Amelia's Magazine 17 March 2011

This illustration for LFW is of a collaboration between fashion designer Joanne Hynes and artist Helen Steele and my final contribution to LFW/2011.  I have tried to convey the feel of the coming together of layers, metaphorically speaking with the partnership and through the incorporation of Helen's own paintings onto Joanne's designs.  The whole show itself was a fabulously bold mesh of texture, pattern and colour.

Amelia's Magazine 3 March 2011

I thought this was going to be my last LFW entry and felt rather sad about it, but lo Amelia put a call-out for some weekend illustrating so expect one more post. These illustrations are from the Cooperative Designs collection and the review is by fellow illustrator Naomi Law. Do check out the article.

This colourful collection of capes from MaxJenny Forslund is to be applauded in that this enthusiatic Danish designer works with recycled material such as bamboo, coconut, fabric made out of PET bottles or old cassette tapes.  Wastage is also kept as low as possible, left-overs from PET fabric are made into MAXJENNY for Minis, a children's range of rain ponchos and necklaces are fashioned from jersey cut-offs.

Ah yes, LFW posts are not over yet, here's an illustration of one of Krystof Strozyna's designs whose clean lines and silhouettes made me think of 60s/space age fashion. You can see more of the collection and the full review in Amelia's Magazine.

London Fashion Week and my chance to cut my teeth on fashion illustration.  Hels Martin is on the ground at LFW also cutting her teeth writing up the reviews for Amelia's Magazine as well as blogging about her experiences at the most sartorially daunting venue in the country right now.  Just how do YOU dress for LFW?!  As I write it's raining, this for me, would require applying several containers worth of frizz ease on my hair, unless big hair is on trend?  I lose track...

Here is my first catwalk cut.
