Amelia's Magazine 26 February 2011

Hels Martin who is Amelia's Magazine's Music Editor put out a call for contributors to illustrate from a selection of Oscar nominees, films etc.  I immediately chose Helena Bonham Carter (in fact my fingers couldn't type fast enough to snag her) whose talent and eccentricity I have long admired and whose fabulous tresses makes my own abundant hair seem, er, normal...

Helena Bonham Carter by Matilde Sazio
Since Helena had recently won the Bafta for best supporting actress for her role as the Queen Mother in The King's Speech, I couldn't help but include the award in the illustration.  The Oscar is at the back as a nod to what is looming ahead with the red backdrop signifying the red carpet.  I love Helena and I hope it shows in my interpretation.  Fingers crossed she bags an Oscar too!
